Stand facing away from a wall and position yourself comfortably against it. Slowly move your arms upward while maintaining good control. Your available range may be limited at first, and that is okay.
Do not force your elbows or hands against the wall if doing so causes discomfort or requires you to compensate with your lower back.
The objective is to gradually improve your ability to control the movement while maintaining a comfortable position.
Look Beyond the Painful Spot

Instead of asking only, “How can I loosen this knot?” consider how well your shoulder blade is moving, whether you have adequate upper-back mobility, whether the muscles around your shoulder are working together effectively, and whether you can move your shoulder through its available range comfortably.

A More Complete Approach to Shoulder Health
